My name is Ayo Arowolo. It is almost certain that such individuals would rush back into paid employment after being exposed to the rough business weather outside.
You see, I had assumed a number of things including the fact that being a good financial journalist was enough to see me through in my adventure in entrepreneurship.
I was WRONG!
I found out that being a technically sound person is not a guarantee that you would do well in business. That was a bitter pill for me to swallow.
Should I go it alone or involve other people?
Should I apply for a bank loan and use ?
Should I donate my property to the business or not?
Should I forget about my technical skill and focus on running the business?
Should I get involved in the accounting function or just face my business of writing?
What kind of business should I even get involved with?
One of the first steps I took was to resort to buying books.
I bought as much books as I could afford. Books such as, How to Become Your Own Boss, How To Manage Your Business, Finance for Non Finance Managers, How to Brand Your Business and so and so on. At the last count I had acquired thousands of books worth millions
of Naira. All stocked in my library.
But You Know What? I never even opened many of them! I found that running a business was a business .As I went along, more and more challenges I never envisaged continued to surface and I had no clue on how to handle most of them. Can you identify with what I am saying?
Over the past few years, I have had the privilege of working with many coaches and advisers. But at some point last year, I decided to do something different and unusual with two of my coaches and mentors.

The coaching programme employs a combination of teaching methods: brainstorming, case studies, presentations, modelling to drive home the lessons embedded on the coaching curriculum.
Part of the new concepts introduced into the coaching programme includes, matching participants with successful people who can share with them practical success and professional tips they can apply immediately. What is also unique about the programme is that participants are paired into accountability groups where they are made to assist one another to achieve their respective dreams.
The coaching programme is run through a well integrated and gradated 3- step curriculum divided into 12 modules.
Step 1: Laying The Foundation

This is the critical part of the coaching programme where the foundation for the coaching is laid. No participant can be part of this coaching programme without successfully passing through this stage. Indeed a protégé can only move to the second stage only when he / she has been certified for this stage by one of the Board of coaches. . |

There would be a total of 4 modules here, all focusing on how to set purpose driven and passion driven- goals and achieve them all the time |

At this stage, the list of books, seminars, workshops and other resources recommended by the Enlightened Media Board of Coaches will be unveiled to participants. This would also include the executive summaries (including audio version) of some of those materials. The essence of this foundation stage is to ensure that the correct foundation is laid by every protégé to enable him or her benefit from the tools he or she would be exposed during the coaching programme and to also ensure that he or she is able to tackle challenges of life as they arise even after the training programme |

At the end of this stage, everybody on the coaching class would be expected to produce a 12-month goal sheet and a practical plan for implementing those goals. Essentially, too, it is at this stage that every protégé would be able to discuss with the coach the key goal he or she would want to achieve during the coaching programme. This is very key. No one without a goal sheet screened by the Enlightened Media Board of Coaches would be able to proceed to the next stage. |

The method of relating with protégés at this stage has been modified to revolve around personal interaction with each protégé through both the customised personal board specially created for this purpose and through one-on-one meeting with AA. The essence is to allow each protégé achieve discuss and resolve strictly personal issues that may not be easily handled in the classroom setting. After obtaining a nod from the Lead Coach, the protégé can then be exposed to the master classes explained below. |
Stage 2: Unveiling The Instant Income Strategies

During this phase, Platinum and gold members of the coaching class will have the opportunity of being exposed to a minimum of three income strategies from which they can choose just one that appeals to them. Those on the premium category can also attend but they have to pay the tuition for the programme. |

Stage 3: Investment Options
|
When you start to make money , you also need to have a plan on how to invest the money. During this stage participants will be exposed to investment opportunities in three areas: real estate, the stock market and in business.. |

This will be preceded by practical training on how to assess every investment opportunities to prevent possibility of losing money. Members would be drafted into the wealth mastery investment committee where they can participate in investigating investment opportunities that present themselves. The reason many people lose money is that they leave the investigation of the instruments they are investing in into the hands of third parties. |

Those interested would also be assisted to develop personal investment plans that tally with their investment temperament. This could also be integrated into a retirement planning. |
Stage 4: The Post Coaching Activities

The coaching programme does not end with the three months contact with the coach. After the coaching period,there is a 3 months subsequent guide that protégés will enjoy. Protégés would have access to the lead coach and his network of coaches and advisors on any aspects of what they learnt during the coaching programme. They can continue to ask for advice and those who wish can be linked to a specific coach. This arrangement can be discussed and attended to by request with the Program organizers. |
